This is it, our all-time favorite. Since its introduction in 1958, at the time as c100, it has now been made more than 100 million times. This makes the Honda Super Cub the most sold vehicle in the world of all time. No Volkswagen Beetle or Toyota Corolla but this indestructible moped with 17 inch wheels and the four-stroke engine that we love so much at the 4-stroke shop. Soichiro Honda wanted to design a means of transport that anyone could ride on and that could be used in any industry. This resulted in the Super Cub with a low entry, a leg shield and a semi-automatic clutch. A great moped that is suitable as a daily driver but also as a moped that is only used in good weather.
Since its introduction, the Super Cub has had many names and upgrades. At the 4-stroke shop we roughly distinguish between the following types;
  • OT type: The type with the tank mounted on the frame, 6 volt electricity and ignition contacts.
  • K1 type: The type with the slightly rising handlebar, extra cooling fins on the crankcases and the tank mounted in the frame.
  • NT type: The type with a 12v system, cdi ignition and new type of gaiters

In detail, there are many more differences to be found between the Honda models, but in general this is fairly accurate. In the Netherlands, only the OT model was delivered between 1971 and 1974 in the colors moss green and elephant gray. With the well-known pedal system to comply with the Dutch moped law. As you may have noticed, the Dutch C50 comes with a pillion seat while all Japanese imports on our site have a solo seat. This is due to Japanese law. In Japan it is not allowed to ride a 50cc moped with more than 2 people. As a result, Japanese C50's have a solo saddle and no footrests on the swingarm.
In 1958 the first Super Cub came on the market with the c100 designation and the pushrod block that we know from the c310 and c320. In the following years, the Super Cub was such a success that the block was upgraded to the model we still see in modern mopeds today!
In 1966 Honda introduced the first Honda Super Cub 50 as we know it today, the Honda C50. With an overhead camshaft and a timing chain, this block provided a 4 hp and a top speed of approximately 60 km / h. This moped was equipped with 6 volt electricity and ignition contacts.
In 1968 the 72cc and 86cc models were added to the line-up. These mopeds had no major changes except for the engine displacement and provided more pulling power and top speed. These mopeds are very popular in many parts of Asia where 50cc moped arrangements do not exist. Interested in a C70 or C90? We always try to have stock, but import on request is also possible!
These 3 models have undergone many updates such as 12 volt electricity and CDi ignition, and are equipped with many accessories and further developments over the years. Think for example of the Presscub, Little Cub and ct90. In 1982, Honda even claimed in a press release that the Honda C50 (NT model) at 30km / h would have a consumption of 150km per liter. At the 4-stroke shop we have never managed to drive 150 km 30 km per hour on a Super Cub, but it is definitely worth a try! Will you come and try it? Rent a day or test drive here!
